Memorial Day is here, which is the unofficial start of summer for most families. If you’re lucky, you have a three day weekend and gorgeous weather to get outside and have some fun.
Most people will have some kind of barbecue or picnic on Memorial Day… because what says “summer is here” better than cooking and eating outdoors?
We decided to ask some of the editors here at Social5 for their favorite summertime recipes. If you need a little inspiration or just want to see what other people enjoy eating when the weather gets nice, check out their suggestions below!
Sherry – This recipe is a fan-favorite at our house — and when you have 4 picky eaters, that’s saying something! It’s a fun, flavorful recipe that can be served up as a side or as the main course.
Kristen – My favorite recipe is an edamame salad recipe that is so old school, it can’t even be found on the internet. This is a clipped-from-a-magazine favorite that I scanned to my computer and uploaded to Dropbox so I could share it. I keep coming back to it because it’s just so good!
Chad – One of my family’s favorite recipes is Mexican Street Corn aka “Elote” — it’s sweet, cheesy, char-grilled, and spicy. What more could you ask for? This is a good recipe we like to use in our house.
Lauren – As someone who’s very into health and fitness, this recipe is a go-to for me. I love how fresh the ingredients are, and it’s a perfect dish to pass at a cookout or any other gathering!
Lesley – It’s not very sophisticated, but one of our favorites is this recipe for Honey Teriyaki Salmon and Veggies in Foil. It’s easy and always tastes great, especially in the summer!
Kari – I have a sweet tooth, and in summer, there’s no better dessert than a berry trifle. I rarely follow a recipe, but here’s a good one to use if you would like. It’s easy to make, delicious, and looks a lot more impressive than it really is!
We hope these recipes inspire you to cook up some delicious food this weekend, and we hope you enjoy your Memorial Day, no matter how you decide to spend it.
